Unplugged Presents Subsea Autonomy Technology at Agder Defence Industry Dialogue 2026

Unplugged participated in Agder Defence Industry Dialogue 2026, bringing together representatives from the defence sector, industry, academia and public authorities to discuss how Southern Norway can contribute to strengthening national defence capabilities and industrial readiness.

The conference, which also welcomed Norway's Minister of Defence, Tore O. Sandvik, highlighted the growing importance of innovation, industrial collaboration and dual-use technologies.

From innovation to operational capability: Building on NATO DIANA

Dr. Meyer represented Unplugged with a presentation entitled “From Innovation to Operational Effect”, sharing the company's experience from NATO's Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) programme.

The presentation focused on how proven civilian technology can be adapted to meet defence requirements, particularly in the field of autonomous underwater operations.

Unplugged develops inductive wireless power and high-speed data transfer technologies enabling autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) to recharge and exchange mission data without surfacing or relying on conventional electrical connectors.

Already demonstrated in demanding offshore energy applications, the technology offers significant potential for maritime defence, persistent underwater surveillance and the protection of critical subsea infrastructure.

The conference also reinforced the role of Agder's technology and industrial ecosystem in supporting Norway's expanding defence ambitions.

For Unplugged, the objective remains clear: turning proven subsea technology into scalable solutions for persistent underwater autonomy.
